Packing for any trip is hard. Do you need pants, shorts, coats, bathing suits, sneakers, flip flops, jewelry? Does anyone else end up packing 35 outfits for a three-day trip just to be sure? Well, I have been to Disney World quite a few times now and I think I have mastered the ultimate Disney World packing list to share with you!
1. Pashmina Scarf
Okay, this one might seem a little strange, but hear me out. A pashmina scarf is so useful on multiple occasions. First, planes and airports are always so cold, but Florida is so hot. If you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt on the plane, you’ll want a pashmina scarf to use as a blanket!
Also, I find that hotel rooms tend to stay cold. Or maybe it’s my fellow travelers that like to keep my hotel rooms cold. Either way, I freeze at night! The last two times I traveled, I used my pashmina scarf as a wrap to sleep in for a little extra warmth. Perfect!
Finally, pashmina scarfs are so versatile. If you’re heading to Florida, you probably don’t need top pack long sleeves. But it gets a little chilly at night and you might need an extra layer that you can easily put on and off. A pashmina is the solution!
Check out some of these beautiful pashminas for your next Disney World trip!
2. Battery Pack
And not just any old battery pack, you’re going to need a big battery pack that holds a long charge. Disney World parks give everyone three fast passes each day, and the availability is constantly changing. If you don’t get the ride you want or the time you want, keep checking throughout the day! That means your battery will drain fast. Let it drain as far down as you can and use your battery pack sparingly, and make sure you have a big battery pack if you’re going to be there for multiple days!
I always bring my Aduro 20000 mAh battery pack to Disney with me and it serves me well!
3. Lightweight Backpack
Plan to be at the Disney World parks all day. Even if you’re staying close, do you really want to leave the parks and waste time when you could be riding Avatar or Frozen Ever After? A backpack lets you bring everything you could need with you for the day: water, battery pack, snacks, money, and anything else you might need!
A lightweight backpack is important since you’ll be wearing it all day. Neatpack has a great foldable daypack that’s easy to fit in a carry on but holds a lot for a day in the parks. It’s super lightweight and it’s the backpack I bring every time I go to Disney World. I would definitely add Neatpack’s Backpack/Daypack to my ultimate Disney World packing list!
4. S’well Bottle
Speaking of filling your backpack with things you’ll need in the parks for the day, consider a reusable water bottle. Not only is it more environmentally friendly than plastic water bottles, it holds more water and keeps it cold despite Florida’s hot temperatures. S’well bottles keep cold water cold up to 24 hours and hot beverages warm up to 12 hours!
Disney is also great with refilling water bottles. The two Avatar rides in Animal Kingdom have water bottle filling stations in the line queue. Any cafeteria-style eatery has fountain soda machines with water tabs where you can refill your bottles for free. And of course there are water fountains everywhere!
Check out some S’well bottles here! And definitely go with the 25 oz biggest bottle.
5. Comfortable Shoes
SO important for walking miles around the Disney World parks! Sneakers are always a good choice because they provide support and don’t put any bad pressure points on your feet. If sneakers aren’t your thing, I also love my Rainbow flip flops. They provide minimal support but form to your feet and keep your feet free.
6. Credit Cards with Good Perks
It’s not a secret that Disney World is expensive. Whether you’re going solo, with friends, or with a family, you’re going to spend a lot of money. Why not get rewarded for it? Instead of bringing cash, find a few credit cards with good rewards and use them to pay for everything from park tickets to meals. The Points Guy constantly updates the best credit cards around no matter when you read this post!
Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express gives you one to six percent cash back on purchases. Capital One Venture Rewards Card gives you two to ten times miles per dollar, a great card for travelers. Chase Freedom Unlimited has zero percent balance transfer APR in case you end up spending more than you anticipate and need to move some debt around. And finally, all Capital One cards have no foreign transaction fees if you’re visiting Disney from abroad.
7. Sunglasses
Don’t forget sunglasses in sunny Florida! I did that once, when I had a night flight and sunglasses weren’t on my mind. Of course Disney sells sunglasses and it’s pretty cool to have a diamond Mickey on my aviators, but they are expensive. Remember to put some sunglasses on your head or in your suitcase!
8. Disney-Themed Gear
Don’t feel left out! Almost everyone wears Disney-themed gear. Get a cute t-shirt or tank top, Disney sneakers, or Mickey ears!
9. Magic Band
Don’t forget your magic band, either! I did this once too and having to keep my ticket card in my pocket was so inconvenient. You need it for entry, all your fast passes, photos, and food if you’re on a dining plan. Wearing a magic band makes you Disney official and just makes life easier in general. Don’t forget to pack it!
10. A Solid Watch
Fast passes are only good for one hour, so you don’t want to lose track of time and miss your precious “skip the line” ticket. Most people will pull their phone out, even if they are wearing watches. But when you’re zipping around from place to place with hands full of pretzels and beer, sometimes you don’t have a hand for a phone. It’s so much easier to glance at your wrist!
I love my Welly Merck watch. It’s lightweight, small, classic, and goes with everything. I also love my Jord watch, all natural wood watches made from fallen trees and made from the same materials as Rolex watches. Check them out and see what works for you!
11. Popcorn Bucket
Did you know that there are popcorn stands all over every Disney park? That’s why it always smells so good! You can buy a bucket of popcorn in a reusable bucket and bring the bucket with you every time you go to the parks. There are clips on the buckets to attach them to a backpack or stroller so you don’t have to carry it. The best news? Once you purchase the bucket, it’s only $2 for a refill at any stand in any park! Know the tricks and Disney doesn’t always have to be expensive. Just remember to pack your popcorn bucket for each trip!
12. Annual Passholder Card and ID
If you’re an annual pass holder, definitely don’t forget the actual card and your picture ID for free parking, discounts on merchandise and food, and other benefits around the parks! Even though you will be able to get into the parks with your magic band, you MUST have the card and ID to get the other benefits. Don’t forget!
