Today in el instituto de Olvera, I was preparing a fun musical game for the 3° de ESO: I blanked out some words and as they listen, they will fill in the missing words. I haven’t been in the U.S. in a while so I don’t know what popular songs are out now, so I was googling Billboard Top 100 and I came across One Republic, “I Lived.”
THIS…..is our theme song, auxiliares and adventurers.
Click on the video to listen while you read. The lyrics are also up there, and it actually brought tears of joy to my eyes to listen to the video and read the lyrics because this is what I have been trying to get across in this blog.
All of us who travel frequently, move far away for extended period of time to different places, or have a bucket list with more than half checked off – we are the same. We want to live life to the fullest and aren’t afraid to take chances and make big changes. Or maybe we are afraid, but we push the fears aside because adventure and curiosity of the unknown and the “could be” is stronger than fear.
When my adventures are over, I want to look back at my life and say, “I swear I lived.” I took the chances, I got on the flights, I ventured out of my comfort zone, and I saw amazing things. In reference to the song, I took the jump; the crowd (of 12-13 year olds in my school) screamed my name; when everyone left, I stayed (the opposite is also true); and I will know I gave life all I had. I haven’t done or seen it all yet, but I will.
Can you say you lived? There’s still plenty time…do you trust me?
